Professional Builders Supply is Hiring an Area Operations Manager Near Morrisville, NC

Founded in 2003, Professional Builders Supply today operates locations in the Carolinas, selling, installing and distributing residential and commercial building materials such as lumber, siding, trim, doors, windows, decking and railing. The company also operates a truss manufacturing facility in Fayetteville, North Carolina and provides turn-key installation services for multifamily applications through its PBS Commercial brand and for residential roofing and siding via SouthEnd Exteriors.
Position Overview
Directs and coordinates activities of the branch operations to obtain optimum use of equipment, w are house process and personnel. Are a O p er ations Manager will need to have or acquire knowledge of the w are house process, dispatch/transportation process, counter sales process, and product knowledge.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Establish, monitor , and maintain company performance metrics for order fill rate, on time delivery, equipment utilization , and Inventory accuracy.
  • Conduct audits to more deeply monitor metrics that do not meet company standards or requirements.
  • Utilize metrics and audits to quantify operational performance and to develop strategies and tactics that drive operational excellence throughout the branches.
  • Facilitates regularly scheduled operations meetings with Branch managers.
  • Resolves operating difficulties and implements resolutions
  • Assists in preparation of store budgets and monitors the compliance of each department in accordance to the budget.
  • Reviews production reports, department expenses, labor costs, and other reports and documents related to store operations.
  • Measures productivity of departments within branch i.e. counter, w are house, and dispatch/drivers.
  • Focuses on w are house and delivery efficiencies to achieve desired on-time delivery to meet customer needs.
  • Ensures vehicles are being serviced as required and that vehicle condition reports are being filled out and addressed.
  • Reviews product flow for best space and labor utilization .
  • Confirms inventory levels and cycle counting processes are properly maintained .
  • Monitors operational expenses within departments managed.
  • Enforces Company policy and procedures involving customers, vendors and employees.
  • Reviews personnel assignments with Branch managers and makes recommendations according to service needs and sales plans.
  • Confirms that the branch conducts regular counter, driver, and w are house meetings.
  • Works with Sales management to ensure proper communication and training is maintained .
  • Promote Company programs, e.g. Safety.
  • Attend all company meetings as required .
  • Works with customers as necessary to help resolve problems and follows up on customer complaints to ensure a mutually satisfactory outcome.
  • Directs branch manager(s) who supervise a total of 12 or more employees in Dispatch/Transportation, Counter Sales, and W are house Operations. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Complies with Company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Minimum education required - Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university is preferred.
  • Five to ten years operational experience with significant c are er experience in a fast pace distribution organization.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general operations management and financial principles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with demonstrated presentation skills are required .
  • Proficiency in MS programs, computer based inventory control system (WMS preferred), etc. Other are a specific softw are as needed.
  • Candidate must lead by example and exhibit an entrepreneurial and strategic spirit accompanied with excellent interpersonal skills, strong advocate of promoting quality and continuous process improvement.
  • Physical demands include the regular use of hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
